Present: Michael Bean, Dave Beer, Barbara Henoch, Keith Brown
Dave has transferred the financial records from Quicken to Excel which means that they can now be sent out electronically if required. Thanks for taking the initiative on that Dave!
Our current balance is $355.13
We need two more board members.
Current members are: Dave, Barbara, Michael and John in the past president position. (Garth Rustand’s status is unclear).
A treasurer is still needed.
Barbara will put an appeal out to Travis Coté of Tamagawa University as he has expressed an interest in organizing cyclists in Nanaimo.
Next General Meeting is on June 21, 2006 at Éducacentre.
Tom and Janice Hocking will be giving a slide show on cycling in Ireland.
Dave will confirm their participation.
Barbara will see if she can borrow a projector from Aspengrove School.
As the summer is approaching the next official board meeting will be on Sept 20, 2006.
The brochure has been completed thanks to Michael’s coordination and Johanne Galipeau’s graphic design expertise.
Dave wrote up a letter of thanks and we are sending her an honorarium of $100.
Michael will call Johanne to arrange a drop off point for the brochures.
We will place them in bunches of approximately 25 in each of the following bike stores: Arrowsmith, Oak Bay Bikes, Pedal Pushers, Pacific Rim.
Commuter Challenge and Clean Air Day:.
Liz Anderson of BC Transit has the contract to arrange the Commuter Challenge this year.
She has requested our assistance to staff tables during the Clean Air Day event.
It will be on June 7th between 1:00 and 2:00; the location has yet to be confirmed.
Dave and Michael volunteered to staff a table there.
-since Jim and Debby are away, the GNCC tent, banners and cycling literature etc. are at Barbara’s house
-Dave will get more details from Liz Anderson and send out a request for volunteers to our members.
South End Miner’s Picnic: We have once again been invited to have a table at this community event. Dave, Michael and Keith have volunteered to staff the table. Our hours will be from approximately 10:00 -3:00 (earlier if we like). We agreed that having a raffle is a good way to attract people to the table. We have two prizes to give away which are leftovers from last year’s Clean Air day event – a cycling jacket and a small helmet. Dave will send out an email requesting volunteers for this event.
